Fly-in clinics to the Kapenta airstrip help meet the physical needs of the people. An eye doctor from a church in Pennsylvania, along with his staff, made two week-long visits to the area, fitting hundreds of people with eyeglasses for the first time.
The Wednesday dental extraction clinic brings lines of people to the Rabenold home in anticipation of having Ted pull the to
oth that's giving them lots of pain. Each "patient" is prayed over and given a Gospel tract, toothpaste and a toothbrush. Since 2003, over 5,500 teeth have been extracted.
The Rabenolds provide rabies vaccine to people infected by rabid animals in this remote area devoid of access to this type of vaccine. More than 25 people a year come for this help.
Kim Rabenold, blessed with a large dose of the "gift of mercy," treats many cases of human bites, burns and cuts. Kim also teaches nutrition and health/hygiene to a women's group in Kapenta village.
Kim has homeschooled the three Rabenold children since arriving in Tanzania. The two older children entered boarding school at high school age, and the youngest continues to be homeschooled.
