Evangelism
Evangelism is the goal in our Seed-Planting ministry with the largely animistic people of the Rukwa Valley. Due to lack of Judeo-Christian influence in years past, a fundamental understanding of God and Who He is is imperative if local people are to be introduced to His Son. The past ten years have been used to equip local evangelists in the teaching of Firm Foundations, a course introducing people to God beginning with Genesis 1:1.
Equipping
Thirteen men have been equipped with the materials and training to teach this course. Due to there being few athiests in Africa, all Africans enjoy talking about God. Currently, as a team, we are evangelizing using open air-preaching and one-to-one visitation. Bible sales and excellent tracts, including the Gospel of John, are used to impact locals with the importance of God sending His Son to the cross for each of us as individuals.
Outreach to Fishermen
The jet-boat ministry enables local pastors and evangelists to take the Gospel through literature and open-air preaching to fishing villages around Lake Rukwa. Repeated visits are made to disciple those who commit their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. Cosima Kalumbeti, an extremely capable young man, is in his third year of mechanics school and, upon graduation, will be involved in this ministry together with a team of national men.
Arriving at remote fishing villages inacssesable by vehicles of other sorts is what makes this minstry so special. It is great to see men and women who have no church services of any kind attend the open-air preaching and eagerly purchase Bibles for reading during their time in the fishing villages. On our trips, we have seen up to ten men at a time come forward to profess Jesus as Lord and Savior!
